RxART PARTY 2019 celebrates Nicolas Party and Heather Hasson
With over 220 guests, the sold-out evening raised funds to support seven upcoming commissions at children’s hospitals around the country
Last night, RxART celebrated their visionary collaborators, partners, and upcoming commissions at the annual RxART PARTY. The evening, chaired by Thomas Tull, brought together over 220 guests from across the arts, fashion, entertainment, philanthropy, healthcare, medical, and business worlds in support of RxART’s mission and program, which brings the healing power of visual art to pediatric patients and their caretakers at hospitals throughout the US. The evening raised enough funding to fully support seven of RxART’s upcoming projects in hospitals across the nation.
Supported by partners Hauser & Wirth, Lexus, and FIGS, the sold-out RxART PARTY commenced as guests arrived at the iconic address of 432 Park Avenue and were greeted with drinks by Champagne Collet and Casamigos. Guests mingled in the space, accented with florals by Plantshed and animated by an installation of six sculptures by honoree Nicolas Party as well as festive, large-scale reproductions of his playful painted landscapes.
Following cocktails, RxART founder Diane Brown welcomed guests to the dinner with remarks, highlighting the nonprofit’s recent and upcoming site-specific installations and commissions. Stéphane Aquin, Chief Curator of the Hirshhorn Museum, presented Nicolas Party with the RxART Inspiration Award, in recognition of the artist’s forthcoming mural, commissioned by RxART, that will transform a 207-foot-corridor in the Operating Department at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles (CHLA). Upon receiving the award, the artist delivered moving remarks about the honor and responsibility of transforming children’s spaces in hospitals into beautiful, tranquil environments for healing.
Heather Hasson, Co-Founder & Co-CEO of FIGS, was presented with the RxART Innovation Award by FIGS co-founder Trina Spear in celebration of the trailblazing company’s forthcoming collaboration with artist Urs Fischer that will produce playfully patterned pajamas for CHLA’s young patients. The inspirational medical apparel pioneer addressed the crowd, speaking of her partnership with RxART and graciously thanking her medical collaborators and team who were present for the occasion.
The event concluded with the sold-out After PARTY, chaired by Zahra Ahmed and sponsored by DL1961, with a DJ set by Nick AM. Guests were also able to put final bids on the Silent Auction of original drawings by artists Grace Weaver, Nikki Maloof, Joel Mesler, Paul Wackers, and Margaret Lee, among others, all of whom appear in the latest edition of the RxART Coloring Book. The silent auction was hosted by Paddle8 and facilitated by PSG Framing and Fritz Ewins Inc.
